Mí Iúil /July

Cúpla rud ag teacht aníos an mhí seo chugainn:

The film City of a Thousand Suns/ Cathair na Mílte Grian will be premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh on the 8th July at 14.00. Written and directed by Paula Kehoe and Feargal Ward, this is an unforgettable art film partly inspired by Eoghan Ó Tuairisc’s elegy for Hiroshima, ‘Aifreann na Marbh’. The cast includes Marcus Mac Conghail, Kazuyoshi Meiki, Rióna Ní Fhrighil and Tristan Warner. I was very happy to narrate the Irish-language version of the film.

Beidh mé ag glacadh páirte in ‘Cosán Ghabhla‘ mar chuid d’Fhéile an Earagail ar an 9ú agus 10ú Iúil i dteannta scríbhneoirí agus físealaíontóirí.

On the 16th July, I’ll be reading in Panicale in Umbria, Italy at the Effetto48 festival with Billy Ramsell and Lorenzo Mari. Special thanks to Alberto Masala for the invitation.

Delighted to be finishing off the month in Armagh at the John Hewitt Summer School where I’ll be reading with John McAuliffe and Molly Twomey on 29th July at 11.15.

Reading in Firenze

Florence

It was wonderful to visit Florence/Firenze recently to read with Billy Ramsell and his Italian translator, Lorenzo Mari. Very grateful to my friend Debora Biancheri who translated some of my poems to Italian some years ago. These translations were read on this occasion by writer Giovanni Agnoloni who hosted the event at the gorgeous L’Ora Blu bookshop. Grazie a tutti!
