Many thanks to Aifric Mac Aodha for her review of the series ‘File ar Fhile’ which was published by Cois Life in May. The review is published in The Irish Times.

Ómós do Liam Ó Muirthile

Beidh ócáid ar siúl i Leabharlann na Cathrach i gCorcaigh ag 7 tráthnóna inniu in ómós do Liam Ó Muirthile. Is mar chuid den Cork Work Book Fest a bheidh mé féin, Louis de Paor agus Mícheál Ó hUanacháin ag caint faoi shaothar Uí Mhuirthile a d’imigh ar shlí na fírinne bliain ó shin, nach mór. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam.

Tá go leor imeachtaí eile ar chlár na féile: seoladh leabhair Thomas McCarthy oíche Dhéardaoin, agus beidh file ón gCatalóin, Sílvia Aymerich-Lemos, ag caint Dé Sathairn, mar shampla.

A thuilleadh faoin Ríordánach

Seo nasc chuig píosa a scríobhas ar Tuairisc faoin Ríordánach, a saolaíodh céad bliain ó shin ag an deireadh seachtaine. Bhíos páirteach i gcomhdháil i mBaile Mhúirne mar chuid den chomóradh sin a d’eagraigh Bríd Cranitch, Tríona Ní Shíocháin agus Ríona Ní Churtáin. Léiríodh ‘Mo Pheann ag Rince’ de chuid Imram, seó a chuir Liam Ó Muirthile i dtoll a chéile, le tionlacan ceoil ó Enda Reilly agus físeanna aoibhne le Margaret Lonergan. Ba mhór agam féin a bheith ina dteannta ag léamh dánta an Ríordánaigh.

Dordfhilíocht at International Literature Festival Dublin

Bass + Poetry = Dordfhilíocht.

I was involved in an event curated by Liam Carson as part of the International Literature Festival Dublin on 21st May. He paired poetry with the bass (fretted, fretless, double… even a saw produced music!) I was accompanied by Nev Lloyd on fretless bass. He also played double bass for Liam O Muirthile. Marcus Mac Conghail and Eoin O’Brien produced an avant garde collaboration (we need more of this stuff as Gaeilge!) and Séamas Barra O Súilleabháin and Martin Brunsden riffed off each other in what was a really special performance. Martin even got out the aforementioned saw for SB’s haiku.
